Part event organization, part film club - Wolf's Head Film is the pet project of Amanda and Daena Makela. These two scoundrels are Keweenaw-based filmmakers under the moniker, 2nd Sandbar Productions.

The name "Wolf's Head" comes from some real obscure hearsay that can not be corroborated regarding Lake Superior once being dubbed "the wolf's head" due to its likening to the side profile of a wolf. Isle Royale as the eye, the Keweenaw Peninsula the negative space in a gaping maw, you probably get the drift. Regardless of its accuracy, it sounded cool as hell. 

 

Their work together focuses on creative endeavors, destination marketing, Keweenaw storytelling, social media, small business media, and plenty more. It's exhausting, but they're just crazy enough to pull it off.

The movie theater has always been a sacred and bonding space for Daena, Amanda, and as time went on, their daughter. Friendships and laughter have been forged in the trenches of really bad movies, and deep love and conversation grown in conversation spurred by good ones.
